(Part 1/?) Building a Guitar With Hot-Swappable Pickups, Without Breaking the Bank: Introduction

This project has been a long time coming. I’ve been dreaming, planning, even plotting how exactly to make this a reality. There are a few (pricey) premade options on the market, but I’ve never been one to pay up for convenience if I can figure it out.

In this post, I will give a brief rundown of what is in the modular guitar field, then I’ll go into what I want to create, and finally will go over what I’m thinking so far as I begin to acquire all the parts I need and come up with first drafts of my design.

Once I begin building I’ll upload updates, problems, and anything I’ve learned along the way in a new post to this category.

(Part 2/?) Building a Guitar With Hot-Swappable Pickups, Without Breaking the Bank: Theories and Measurements

So… patience isn’t really my strong suit. The guitar I had planned to turn into my modular hot-swapping prototype is as of yet just a body, and one that needs a lot of work before it can be anything more.

With that in mind, I just picked up a guitar that has been having electrical issues ever since I got it, and the tone potentiometer sticks when I turn it… and that’s just not gonna cut it for me.

I figured I can speed up when I have a prototype and fix this guitar by feeding two birds with one hand! (I don’t like the metaphor of killing birds, and a friend from my ecopsychology cohort said something to that effect and I love it!)

Why I Made a Blog

I’m creating this blog as a unified place for me to collect all my various hobbies in a somewhat organized manner. I’m going to start by writing about some past projects, uploading my art, and beginning to sort through all I’ve written in terms of both poetry and music.

I’m hoping that by organizing it, I’ll be able to more easily reflect on and learn from what I’ve done, and maybe somebody else out there might learn from mistakes I’ve made and work I’ve done as well!
